The Pilger Pharmacy is very modernly equipped and fully computerized. The two partners, Dr. Reto Rupf and Prof. Christoph Meier, are engaged in other activities in addition to their work in the pharmacy.

Prof. Christoph Meier spent several years in the USA for research purposes, where he completed his training as an epidemiologist and conducted research in the field of drug safety / pharmacoepidemiology. Parallel to his work in pharmacy, he continued his research in Basel and in the fall of 2009 became an Extraordinarius at the University of Basel and at the same time Head of Hospital Pharmacy at the University Hospital Basel (www.pharma.unibas.ch), Department of Clinical Pharmacy). Due to his professorship at the university, Prof. Christoph Meier will now be seen less frequently in the pharmacy, but he will remain a partner in the pharmacy and continue to provide advice and support in the background. He is involved in university teaching with lectures on the topics of "Public Health" and "Drug Knowledge" for pharmacy students in various semesters.

As of January 1, 2015, Pilger Pharmacy was transferred into the hands of Coop Vitality AG in order to secure its location and future. Since then, Dr. Reto Rupf has been managing all business areas. The popular services, all product ranges as well as the proven team remain unchanged and are continuously developed.

Pilger Apotheke has the largest range of medicines in northwestern Switzerland and, in urgent cases, uses courier services to supply other pharmacies, hospitals or doctors with medicines that they do not have in stock. This additional service helps to close short-term supply bottlenecks in the Regio Basiliensis.
